The Staff
Lisa Cesnik Ferguson (Producing Artistic Director) is founder and producing artistic director of Rose of Athens Theatre, and beyond the administrative duties that that entails, she has worked on every RoA productions as a director, actress and more, since its incorporation in August 2006.

She moved to Athens, GA by way of Chicago in 2004 and has been working professionally in the theater since the age of 17.  She is grateful to have continued to do so regionally, at theaters throughout the U.S., including Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Richmond, VA, Indianapolis, Columbus, GA, and Highlands, NC.

Ferguson enjoys a continuing relationship with the Springer Opera House in Columbus, Georgia, working there from 2004 – present.  This historic  theater was dedicated by President Jimmy Carter as the “State Theatre of Georgia.”   There, she works with visionaries Ron Anderson and Paul Pierce and teaches at Springer Theatre Academy. At the Springer Opera House she has directed and performed lead roles in over twenty productions.

She has also been a college instructor since 1998, both full time and part time at University of Georgia, Columbus State University, and Piedmont College. She received her B.S. in Theatre from Ball State University in 1991 and her M.F.A. in Theatre from UGA in 2001.

Some of her biggest influences? Children, Martha Jacobs, and her family – all teach kindness and communion, hard work and the joy of discovery.

 

 

 

Danielle Bailey Miller (Associate Artistic Director & Program Coordinator)  received her B.A. in Theatre from Piedmont College in Demorest, GA in 2007. She has participated in many theatrical ventures and has worked every job from backstage to onstage, including several years of experience at Highlands Playhouse in Highlands, NC. She has performed at the South Eastern Theatre Conference in the Fringe Festival and in the 10-Minute Play Festival and was recently invited to perform in the Georgia Presenters Showcase hosted by the Fox Theatre Institute. Danielle is a three-time Irene Ryan Award nominee, an honor presented by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

In addition to her duties as Program Coordinator, Danielle enjoys various aspects of theatre including performing, directing, managing and teaching. She has been teaching theatre in various arenas for over ten years. Danielle is a theatre teacher with Masters Academy of Fine Arts and is the current theatre columnist for Athens Food & Culture Magazine. SONDRA MCCOY (Booking specialist/Volunteer Coordinator 2011/2012) is local power-house, working with Rose of Athens Theatre and volunteering for several organizations, including Athens Area Homeschool Band, Studio Dance Academy and Athens Tae Kwon Do. She is the lead instructor for TKD’s summer camp. Sondra is also the proud parent of four Rose of Athens Theatre Academy students.

JOHN PATRICK BRAY (No Shame Coordinator) short play Eleanor’s Passing has just been published in the Applause anthology, The Best Short American Plays 2010-2011. A monologue from his play Liner Notes has been published in the Smith and Kraus anthology, 2011 Best Stage Scenes and Monologues for Women. His one-act play Attic Monster runs this week as part of The Good Works Theatre Festival in Atlanta, and his ten-minute play Green Sound has just been picked up for production with the Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga’s Fourth Annual Short Attention Span Theatre Short Play Festival. JENNIE ALVERNAZ  (Costume Coordinator 2011/2012) has been sewing her way through several of Athens’ theatre groups and we are proud to call her one of our own! By day Jennie is a scientist at UGA and by night she is a consummate Costume Designer. You may have enjoyed some of her costumes in Alice in WonderlandHoliday Spirits Tour, and A Christmas Carol: A Yuletide Celebration.
