The Athens Historic House Museum Association presents its 2nd Annual “Christmas Spirits Holiday Tour”
December 5th & 6th
Athens, Ga (November 3, 2009) – Celebrate the holidays Classic City Style with the Athens Historic House Museum Association’s second annual Christmas Spirits Holiday Tour. The Association, along with Classic City Tours and Rose of Athens Theatre, brings holiday cheer to their four historic house museums on December 5th and 6th. The festive tour will take participants to the Church- Waddel-Brumby House, the T.R.R. Cobb House, the Taylor-Grady House, and the Ware-Lyndon House. Visitors will enjoy guided tours of each residence while noshing on delicious seasonal refreshments. Two original theatre vignettes by Rose of Athens Theatre are sure to put audiences in the holiday spirit.
The festive journey begins with savory culinary delights at the Federal Style Church-Waddel-Brumby House, home of two former UGA presidents. Visitors will proceed to the T.R.R. Cobb House where the Civil War South comes alive in the first of Rose of Athens’ original performances. Next, the Taylor-Grady House tour serves as an intermission between performances as guests enjoy delectable desserts amidst the holiday décor of the Greek revival home of famed journalist Henry Grady. The tour concludes at the Ware-Lyndon house as guests are brought back to Victorian-era Athens. Rose of Athens Theatre creates an original performance depicting Christmas in 1858. This lovely and lively performance will delight tour-goers of all ages.
The tours are scheduled for Saturday, December 5th and Sunday, December 6th, with two tours departing each day. Tours will leave from the Ware-Lyndon House at 6 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and 2 and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $25 per adult and $15 for children 10 and under.
The Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is currently offering a holiday package which includes tickets to the Christmas Spirits Holiday Tour, overnight accommodations at the Foundry Park Inn & Spa, and assorted Athens treats for the festive season. This event is funded in part by a grant from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Tourism Division.
